A Brief History of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland

Chesapeake Beach was founded by the Washington and Chesapeake Bay Railway Company in 1894 as a resort destination for visitors from the Washington D.C. area.   The town thrived as a destination resort during the early 1900's.   The Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum, located in a train station remaining from that time, tells the story of the Chesapeake Bay Railway Company and Amusement Park through a collection of historical photographs and artifacts.
