Ravens owner optimistic on new labor deal |
|
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti is confident that offseason labor talks will result in an agreement that will enable the NFL to avoid a work stoppage in March. “I just have to have hope that a bunch of smart people on both sides of this argument are going to get it done,’’ Bisciotti said yesterday. “I still believe that we’re going to have a full season next year.’’
Bisciotti said the key issue is “the revenue split is not working for the owners,’’ adding that he and his peers are forced to spend more money than they’re taking in.
“Everybody keeps talking about the health of the league because they keep seeing revenues go up. They don’t know that expenses are rising at a higher rate than those revenues,’’ Bisciotti said. “If you were a public company, your stock would be going backward. That’s what we’re trying to protect against.’’ He remains certain that both sides can hammer out an agreement.
Team president Dick Cass said the Ravens have devised a plan to refund money if any games are canceled. He said the refund would come with interest and that if there is a season, the team would not increase ticket prices. |

MD Push-to-Talk Exception Would be Illegal if FMCSA Passes Phone Ban |
|

MD Push-to-Talk Exception Would be Illegal if FMCSA Passes Phone Ban: In December FMCSA published a proposed rulemaking to ban the use of hand-held phones by truck drivers. The proposal prohibits drivers from holding, reaching for, or dialing a mobile phone. If the rule is adopted, violating this proposal will be a disqualifying event. Drivers could face fines of up to $2,750 per violation — and loss of their commercial driver’s license for multiple offenses — while carriers’ fines could be as high as $11,000. Also, if adopted as proposed the rule will nullify Maryland’s push-to-talk exception passed in the 2010 General Assembly. CB radios are not affected by the proposal. FMCSA will accept comments until February 22, 2011 on the proposal. |
You Must Request a Court Date for Traffic Citations |
|
You Must Request a Court Date for Traffic Citations: As of Jan. 1, 2011, Maryland’s District Court will no longer automatically send out a court date for traffic citations. If a person receives a citation they have three options: 1) Pay the citation; 2) Send in the request for hearing, but not trial (basically guilty with explanation); or 3) Request a trial date. If a person does not do one of these options his license will be suspended.
